Which tree would you bet on?

Once a middle-aged man and a very young man planted two saplings at the same time in an open field. The young man would take care of the plant meticulously every day, water it regularly, clear the weeds around it and put manure too. The older man would sparingly clip the dry branches, water it once a while. Apparently, over time, the young man's tree became taller, greener and was more robust than the older man's tree.
A strong storm swept across the town one day and uprooted the young man's tree, whilst the other tree was standing strong. The young man confused, asked him why his tree wasn't damaged. He said, "While you provided every possible thing for the tree's growth, and I didn't, the roots of my tree went deeper in search of nutrients and water. That's how it could sustain a strong adversity. Your tree was never ready for a storm."

Children are like trees.
